If I got a pound for every time we at bodyboard holidays were asked
“Can I take the family away, and still get to surf every day?”
…well I would be a very rich man, but my answer would always remain the same: Of course you can!
As a parent myself, I am no stranger to surfing’s biggest dilemmas when booking the annual family holiday.
Are they going to mind sleeping in the car at the beach? …but I’ll be a miserable git if we opt for the all-inclusive package to somewhere hot but with nothing to do.
Well fear not, we have put our heads together and come up with a series of great family packages, in Portugal, where surfing needn’t be a selfish pursuit and where the whole family can enjoy an awesome trip.
- Family trip – Going solo
Is mum or dad keen to surf their socks off but have that guilty feeling of abandoning the family? If yes, then the Going solooption is definitely the right choice. We’ll pick up the wave slave and take him/her for 4 hours of 1to1 riding in the best waves the area has to offer. They can surf guilt free in the knowledge that the rest of the family are content on the beach, back at the villa’s pool or indulging in a yoga class or massage. - Family trip – All aboard
If you have an active family where all members wish to get in on the action, then the All aboardoption is for you. We’ll pick you all up in the morning and take you for 4 hours of riding. Whether you’re riding your first wave or honing your skills we’ll find the best waves to suit everyone. - Family trip – 50:50
If your family is divided down the middle; half want an adrenaline filled adventure while the other half seek rest and relaxation from their holiday, the 50:50 option is the perfect solution. We’ll pick up the thrill seekers in the morning and take them for four hours of riding, while the rest of the family can relax on the beach, back at the pool or with a yoga class or massage.

Where?
Our family holidays are held in the beautiful, rugged and wave rich region of Sintra, Portugal. We have a wonderful range of properties to offer our families and group packages. All of our properties have their own charm and are located in the wonderful Sintra Natural Park. What’s more, they are all within walking distance of the beach, have a swimming pool, gym, ping pong table, bikes, a giant trampoline, Wifi, a BBQ chill out area and a great view of the Serra de Sintra. The perfect way to combine bodyboarding and relaxation!

Surfing
In terms of waves, our accommodation is a 5 minute drive from Sintra’s famous beach breaks; Praia grande, Praia d’Adraga and Praia das Macas. While the reefs of Ericiera, Lisbon’s wedgy beach breaks, and the mind-bending barrels of Supertubos are just 30minutes, 35minutes and 1hr30mins away, respectively.
