Your Bali team is made up of some of the best bodyboarders in the world, with decades of experience, they all receive in-house training and are all qualified lifeguards – so you can be sure of being in safe hands for your entire trip. There will be a total of 4 staff on the trip.
Rob Barber is not only the founder of Bodyboard Holidays - he is also a former European and British Bodyboarding Number 1, after a remarkable 25-year career combined with his role as Head Coach for the UK Surfing & Bodyboarding team, he was inspired to create unique bodyboarding experiences for like-minded people. It’s a real treat to have him onboard this trip, he first travelled to Bali in 1995 and his years of experience means you’ll be learning from the very best.
Grant is the Indonesia resort manager for Bodyboard Holidays and will be your go-to guy for everything Bali. Originally from Newquay, England he learned to bodyboard when he was 5 or 6 and joined Bodyboard Holidays on an Indonesia trip many years ago - he loved it so much he moved there! Now he’s a coach and guide for you on your Bali trip! Bali is the perfect place to teach bodyboarding and Grant is thrilled to show you his favourite waves. He loves taking people to the best waves in the world, scoring waves alongside them and watching people improve under his coaching. We call him the ‘Bali Bible’ for good reason!
Rendy is a pro photographer who will be on hand dedicated to catching shots of you on the best waves in the world. Using drones, in-water and on-land footage you’ll get a media package with amazing footage of your best waves by the end of the week. Rendy lives and works in Bali and is also an incredible tour guide.

"I treated myself to a bodyboard trip to Bali with Bodyboard Holidays, I had an amazing time so much that I can’t wait to go back. I learned so much from the crew and the other guys on the trip were fun to be around. It was my 60th birthday treat and age is definitely just a number. I was a solo traveller and felt so safe because locals are so humble and kind to be around."

Back from an incredible Bodyboard Holidays trip to Bali! Incredible experience and definitely one to add to the bucket list if it isn’t on there already. From booking with Alex right up to the trip coaching with Rob and Grant, we couldn’t have asked for better service and communication through all stages of the trip. We would highly recommend it to anyone considering booking in the future.

Facilities:
The variety of Indonesia’s surf breaks means you’ll be on quiet peaks offering mellower, long walling waves – perfect if you’re a beginner learning the basics or an intermediate rider looking to reach the next stage. There are also more challenging reefs for advanced riders.
Foundation level Instruction
Indonesia caters for bodyboarders of all abilities, and you’ll often find gentler, mellower waves breaking at one end of the beach or reef, when at the other there are waves offering barrels and steeper sections for more advanced riders. This is great if you’re looking to test yourself without jumping in at the deep end.
Whatever your level, your coaching team will be on hand offering daily guidance and tuition should you want it. Your sessions will be tailored to your ability, and taught by instructors who are in-house qualified and fully insured.
Our team are all highly-experienced lifeguards, some of whom have 20 years of surfing and worldwide travel behind them, all trained by multiple-times British National Champion and Team Coach Rob Barber.
We’ve got your back whatever your ability, and that’s a promise. Don’t stress if you’re just signing up to give it a go – on this trip there’s something for everyone, and we all have to start somewhere!
Foundation level tuition includes
Your instructors will be hands-on with your group in the water, able to give extra tips on the beach, and give detailed feedback during your informal classroom analysis. Group sizes are deliberately kept small helping you make the most of the one-to-one tuition.
In addition to coaching, we aim to enhance your overall understanding of bodyboarding. That’s why we offer separate Q&A sessions covering equipment, travel, safety, surf predictions, pressure charts, and bodyboarding fitness.
Intermediate and Advanced Instruction
There’s a reason so many top bodyboarders make an annual pilgrimage to Indonesia- the waves are perfect for high-level bodyboarding. We can help you master specific moves, from carving reverse spins to boosting airs. Ben Player, a world tour champion, often trained in spots like Uluwatu, Padang Padang, and Canggu for their wave variety, and for good reason. With such diverse wave conditions, you can focus on improving every aspect of your riding as we guide you to secret, virtually undiscovered spots, empty of people so you can catch the best waves all day.
Throughout your sessions, photography and video analysis will help fine-tune your technique. There’s simply no better way to elevate your skills than with slow-motion breakdowns of your biggest moves – you will see your skills skyrocket before your very eyes. By the end of your trip, we guarantee you’ll notice significant improvement. If coaching isn’t your focus, our expert guidance ensures you’re always in the best spot for the day’s waves, letting you fully enjoy each session while our team captures everything on video for you to review.
Seeing yourself bodyboard is a fantastic way to improve your performance. Every day you’ll watch a move-by-move breakdown of your bodyboarding session with footage both from the air, on land and in the water. Drone footage is a remarkable and exciting development in the bodyboarding world, and you will get world-class shots from your dedicated trip photographer – Rendy.
You’ll get to take a photo and video package home with you at the end of the week too, which is a helpful tool for your on-going progress and an epic memento of your trip. It will all be uploaded to an online gallery as you go so you have access to all your best shots and videos to upload throughout the week. We love seeing your waves on social media so feel free to share them as you like and make all your friends wildly jealous!
South-East Asia is well-known for its busy streets, bustling street vendors and colourful food markets. Bali is no exception and you’ll find an array of street-side restaurants, local warungs (family-owned eateries) and more westernised cafes and bars. When the sun goes down, the streets come alive with the buzz of tourists and locals alike searching for their favourite evening meal amongst a hive of friendly open-air diners.
As well as the local dishes like Nasi Goreng (fried rice mixed with meat and vegetables, served with a fried egg), Gado Gado (Mixed steam vegetables and rice with a peanut sauce) and Satay sticks (Your choice of skewered meat served with a spicy sauce, vegetables and coconut milk), you will also find a whole host of international cuisines to choose from.
Some of the staff at Bodyboard Holidays are lucky enough to call Bali home, and they each have their own favourite when it comes to local restaurants. They will have the most up to date, on-the-ground recommendations to make sure that you’re eating in the best spot for your taste and budget.
With so many epic spots for lunch, brunch, dinner and coffee, we asked our team to recommend some of the tried and tested spots they’ve discovered and been wowed by.

Make sure you wrap your towel and clothes around your board inside the bag for added protection. Place your shampoo and other wet toiletries in a separate sealed bag in case of leakage.
