From 26 to 27 June 2027, Dave Hubbard and the Bodyboard Holidays coaching team will bring two days of specialist coaching, wave-pool progression, professional media and social time in Bristol.
The weekend includes five coached sessions across Saturday and Sunday, including a women’s-only session at 12pm on Saturday, co-coached by Dave and the female Bodyboard Holidays instructor team. Dave Hubbard will lead the weekend alongside Rob Barber, Damian Prisk and the experienced Bodyboard Holidays coaching and media team. Together they will deliver goal setting, in-water coaching, professional filming and detailed video analysis throughout the event.

Dave Hubbard is a 10-time Drop Knee World Champion, 2025 Pipeline Champion and one of the most accomplished and influential bodyboarders of his generation.
Known for his technical drop-knee riding, board control and deep understanding of wave positioning, Dave is also one of the worlds best prone riders and brings decades of elite-level experience to the coaching environment. At The Wave he will work directly with riders on stance, speed, bottom turns, carving, rail control, wave selection and overall technique, with feedback suited to each session and ability level.

Rob Barber is a bit of a wave pool junky, having ridden wave pools in Wales, Scotland, Bristol and Tenerife. He’s previously been the Head Coach for the British and English Surfing & Bodyboarding teams and he was inspired to create unique bodyboarding experiences for like-minded people so he became the founder of Bodyboard Holidays!

Damian Prisk has been bodyboarding for over 30 years. He was one of the first to ride the wave pool in Bristol soon after it opened and has been a regular ever since. His technical riding at the pool is revered. He loves working with the guests of Bodyboard Holidays, sharing the stoke and helping others discover the fun world of bodyboarding.
What People Say
"What an incredible day from start to finish. From the moment everyone met in the morning, there was a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It was brilliant to spend the day with bodyboarders from all over the UK, as well as people who had travelled from overseas, all brought together by a shared love of riding waves."

What People Say
"I attended the Hubb bodyboarding coaching weekend. It was a surreal experience surfing in the pool with Dave Hubbard who are heroes of the sport and they gave good advice for improving my riding. Damian Prisk's in-water coaching was the highlight for me."

What People Say
"To meet Dave Hubbard in a wave pool was possibly one of the most surreal moments of my life, but to get invaluable first hand advice from the best in the game is priceless. Thank you for taking the time (with all of us) not only offering great pointers and coaching but to do it in such a relaxed, inclusive and professional manner was truly awesome to witness."

Every booked session starts with a briefing and individual goal setting before you enter the water. Dave Hubbard and the Bodyboard Holidays team will coach in the water, helping with positioning, wave selection, speed, line, turns and manoeuvres according to the session setting and your ability.
Coaching continues after the surf through technical feedback and video analysis, helping you understand what worked and what to focus on next.
Seeing yourself bodyboard is a fantastic way to improve your performance. Every session you’ll watch a move-by-move breakdown of your bodyboarding session with footage both from the on land and in the water.
You’ll get to take a photo and video package home with you at the end of the weekend too, which is a helpful tool for your ongoing progress and an epic memento of your trip. It will all be uploaded to an online gallery as you go so you have access to all your best shots and videos to upload throughout the weekend. We love seeing your waves on social media so feel free to share them as you like and make all your friends wildly jealous!

You’ll need enough money for lunch and snacks. Food and drinks at the Wave Pool Cafe are all reasonably priced.
Yes, of course, the more the merrier! However, we only have limited spaces on the wave machine itself.
