Your Nusa Lembongan team is made up not only of world-champ Iain Campbell but also our company founder, Rob Barber, as well as some local legends! With decades of experience, all Bodyboard Holiday’s staff receive in-house training and are all qualified lifeguards – so you can be sure of being in safe hands for your entire trip.
This is your chance to learn from the best. Iain Campbell is a pro bodyboarder, originally from Durban, South Africa, now based in the UK, he lives and breathes bodyboarding. He has competed in Hawaii, South America, Australia, Europe and South Africa, achieved 1 world title, 6 world tour event wins and 21 podiums.
Crowned the 2017 APB World Tour champion, Iain Campbell is one of the most decorated bodyboarders in the world, a fantastic coach, and an all-round awesome guy. He is an unbelievable prone and drop knee rider so can help you equally in each discipline. He has the biggest YouTube channel of any pro-bodyboarder and has created a hugely valuable resource for bodyboarders all over the world. There is no one better to learn from and spend time in the water with. This is the opportunity of a lifetime!
Nusa Lembongan is home to some of the best waves on the planet, and we’ve been organising trips here for 15 years. Add Iain Campbell into the mix and it’s suddenly the bodyboarding equivalent of a tennis lesson from Roger Federer. You’ll get to bodyboard alongside Iain and witness him shred in a way that’s leagues above anyone you’ve ever seen. You’ll receive top-level coaching and benefit from Iain’s years on the world tour. You’ll get to hang out with Iain, pick his brains, and learn about his victories and life on the tour. Hear the stories from his victory at Pipeline in Hawaii, from South Africa, and the World Tour, and get to know one of the world’s best bodyboarders in the flesh. It’s fair to say that this is the ultimate tropical bodyboarding retreat.
Rob Barber is not only the founder of Bodyboard-Holidays - he is also a former European and British Bodyboarding Number 1. Furthermore, he pioneered bodyboard coaching throughout the world and became the British and English team coach. He was inspired to create unique bodyboarding experiences for like-minded people. It’s a real treat to have him onboard this trip, he first travelled to Bali in 1995 and immediately ventured over to Nusa Lembongan. His years of experience mean you’ll be learning from the very best.
Rendy is a pro photographer who will be on hand dedicated to catching shots of you on the best waves in the world. Using drones, in-water and on-land footage, you’ll get a media package with amazing footage of you shredding waves by the end of the week.
What People Say
"Just been on the Nusa Lembongan trip. Such a sick week and can't recommend it enough. Rob's time tested knowledge of surf spots, tides, and currents mean that while you're surfing the best waves the location has to offer, you can be sure that you're safe whatever your skill level. We were joined on the week by Iain Campbell, whose stoke in and out of the water and knowledge of board riding really helps identify how to progress your bodyboarding to the next level. Rendy the photographer had his finger on the button wherever we were and didn't take a break. Super hard working. Super sound lad."

"Just got back from the Nusa Lambongan trip. It was absolutely awesome! For me it was a trip of a lifetime. The waves were sick, clear warm water and Grant and Rob knew exactly where to take us to find the best breaks at the right times. We Surfed Lacerations, Razors and Shipwrecks to name a few. Rendy the camera man was a delight, not only filming lots of great footage but taking us on tours of the islands. Beach front accommodation with amazing staff and the sunsets were insane. We saw Manta Ray's, Dolphins and so much more on our travels, whilst making lots of new mates from all corners of the globe. Highly recommended."

Your Nusa Lembongan accommodation is, quite simply, island life at its finest. Surrounded by white sands, traditional thatched beach umbrellas and crystal-clear waters; prepare to unwind and manage your movements around the tides. Your hotel, with its stunning infinity pool, overlooks its very own blue lagoon to boast impressive views that you’ll never tire of. The open-air restaurant is perfect for refuelling after a day’s bodyboarding; soak in the surrounding views as you sample the delights of the local cuisine.
Each evening Iain and the local team will study the weather chart and conditions for the following day to ensure the group gets to bodyboard at the optimum location. Iain will hunt down the most suitable waves for the ability of the group to ensure you experience the best bodyboarding Nusa Lembongan has to offer. Iain’s coaching is first-rate, putting you in the best possible environment to get ahead and fast-track your learning and development. Iain will personalise his coaching to ensure you have a clear path of progression throughout the week.
Iain will give on-land and in-water demonstrations, and break skills and sequences down, move-by-move, to help you finesse the delicate details of the sport. He’ll also bodyboard alongside you, help you with wave selection, and give you pointers in the moment. Rendy, your professional photographer will capture A-grade footage of you in the water for your video analysis sessions, but it’s Iain’s wealth of experience that will translate this footage into a hugely valuable learning tool. This is where the eureka moments will happen, as Iain finetunes your technique with an attention to detail you won’t have experienced before.
“Iain’s coaching helped me refine my riding, I have been bodyboarding for over 30 years and he gave me some tips in the first 30 minutes of our session that made me change my approach, I can’t credit him enough” – Bjorn Storey, multiple time British Champion
Seeing yourself bodyboard is a fantastic way to improve your performance. Every day you’ll watch a move-by-move breakdown of your bodyboarding session with footage both from the air, on land and in the water. Drone footage is a remarkable and exciting development in the bodyboarding world, and you will get world-class shots from your dedicated trip photographer.
You’ll get to take a photo and video package home with you at the end of the week too, which is a helpful tool for your ongoing progress and an epic memento of your trip. It will all be uploaded to an online gallery as you go so you have access to all your best shots and videos to upload throughout the week. We love seeing your waves on social media so feel free to share them as you like and make all your friends wildly jealous!
You will need to arrange your own flights to Denpasar International Airport (DPS) in Bali.
You’ll fly into Denpasar airport and will meet us between 2pm and 4pm on the arrival day.
You’ll be greeted at arrivals by our driver and whisked away to your favourite hotel in Sanur, for a 6 pm welcome meeting, and to meet the other guests.
Please note if you are not able to join our airport transfer between 2pm and 4pm it’s super straightforward to grab a taxi to the accommodation.
You’ll stay in a local hotel overnight and the following morning you’ll then take the ferry over to Nusa Lembongan, settle into your lush accommodation where you’ll be based for the remainder of the trip, then head out for your first bodyboard session!
After a boogie-stoked eight nights, you’ll take the ferry back to Bali, and then a taxi back to the airport in good time for a stress-free check-in.
On departure day, please don’t book a flight any earlier than 6 pm. This will allow plenty of time to leave Nusa Lembongan, take the ferry back to Bali, get your inclusive transfer to the airport and check in. We will arrange all of this transportation for you, and you’ll do it as a group with the other guests (unless you wish to stay longer).
Many of our guests choose to arrive a day or two early in order to acclimatise and get over jet lag. Many also tag days on to the end of the trip in order to visit other areas of Bali or wider Indonesia.
If your flight includes a stop, please allow enough time to make your connection and factor in short delays. It’s best to book a ticket that transports your luggage directly to the airport in Bali if possible.
If you’re worried about booking your flight, give our good friend Lee at Dial A Flight a call on 020 7295 1556. Lee’s been booking our flights for the last ten years and will find you the best deal and connection time. He can even book the whole trip for you, so you can relax and just rock up to the airport!
Once you’ve booked, we’ll send you further information on how everything works upon your arrival. We’ll also be tracking your flight and keeping you informed over our WhatsApp group.
Once we’ve all arrived at our accommodation and checked into our rooms, we’ll have a group welcome meeting at 6pm to discuss the trip and start getting excited for the waves ahead. We will all go out for dinner together and it is here that the trip begins.
You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to food during this trip. Whether you’re after a chilled-out beach bar vibe or prefer to splash out on fine dining with an epic sea view, Nusa Lembongan delivers above and beyond. Some of the world’s best chefs have set up shop here, so expect some truly incredible international cuisine alongside traditional Indonesian fare.
A delicious and healthy breakfast is served each morning that you are in Nusa Lembongan on the decking overlooking the surf breaks. Think eggs how you like them, Balinese coffee, fresh fruit and local red rice porridge. This is included in the price of your trip.
Eating out and experiencing the local food culture is one of the trip’s many highlights. Alfresco restaurants take full advantage of the views, so you’ll have idyllic choices at every turn. For instance, just a short stroll from your accommodation, Ohana’s has an Ibiza beach club feel – think daybeds, fire pits and jazz music, the perfect backdrop to a sundowner by the sea (see more on our favourite places to eat below).
There’s also a wide array of fine dining options on the island. For a fancier night out, you can book an open-air taxi to whisk you off to somewhere like Sandy Bay Beach Club, a restaurant with sublime sunsets, world-class Western cuisine and a near-private beach setting with a Balearic buzz. Or for more of a Maldives feel, head for The Deck. With pristine ocean views, it serves carefully crafted cocktails and everything from fresh poke bowls to pizza.
Indonesia is also where you can pick up delicious local meals for a couple of quid. The price increases in the more westernised restaurants, but you’ll still find your money stretching much further into the evening. Being a small island, restaurants and locals rely heavily on what the ocean has to offer – so if you like seafood, you won’t want to miss out on this part of the trip!
Much like the rest of Southeast Asia, Nusa Lembongan has a unique food and home cooking scene. Many young people eat from street vendors and local restaurants, bringing a real communal feel into the area and a fantastic atmosphere after dusk. You’ll find many warungs (local family-owned restaurants), cafes and bars offering local dishes, like nasi goreng (fried rice) and mei goreng (fried noodles).
With so many epic spots for lunch, brunch, dinner and coffee, we asked our team to recommend some of the tried and tested spots they’ve discovered and been wowed by. Here are some of the best:

You are welcome to attend for a shorter period to suit your personal schedule, however, the package price will remain the same.
Group booking discounts are available, please contact us for more information.

Yes, there is WiFi which is of a good standard for the area.
You’ll be asked to fill in an enrolment form as part of the booking process. You’ll signify which level of bodyboarder you are. You may be in a different group suited to your ability, however, there will be plenty of time to see each other back at the accommodation and during our social evening meals.
We choose the time of year and location for our holidays based on local knowledge and historical swell data. In the event of flat waves or stormy conditions, we will offer alternative activities and day trips to help you get the most out of your holiday.
We may also adjust the format of the week, for example, choosing to run more bodyboard sessions on the days that the waves are at their best.
Please visit our Terms & Conditions for more information.
The area that we visit is blessed with constant surf, you can expect great conditions most days of the trip. To give you a clearer idea, the videos on this webpage were all filmed during previous bodyboard holiday trips.
We do not offer a discount for bringing your own equipment.
Remember to check the baggage size and weight allowance with your airline, as well as read their guidance for carrying bodyboards. Baggage handlers can be unforgiving, so a tough bag and intelligent packing are a must.
Firstly, pack your board(s) in a protective, padded board bag, and write FRAGILE and TOP LOAD ONLY on it with a permanent marker. Make sure you wrap your towel and clothes around your board inside the bag for added protection. Place your shampoo and other wet toiletries in a separate sealed bag in case of leakage. We also recommend locking the zips on your bag with a padlock.
Most nations can visit Indonesia for up to 30 days without a visa. However, entry into Indonesia may be refused and airlines may turn you away if you have less than six months left on your passport validity, or you don’t have an onward ticket out of the country. If you’re travelling to Indonesia and intend to stay over 30 days (but no more than 60 days), you will need to pay for your visa on arrival at the airport in Bali – this will cost around $ 35 USD. For more or updated information visit: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/indonesia/entry-requirements Please check international travel requirements for your nationality. Please contact your travel agent or airline if you are unsure or have any further questions.
If you are under 18, we will need to chat to you on the phone and you will need to be accompanied on the trip by a parent or guardian throughout the holiday. If you are 60 or over we’d love to chat with you about the trip before you book. Please contact us via our online chat.
On the day you travel please keep your mobile phone handy so we can stay in touch in case of delays and flight changes. Please inform us if you’re early or delayed for any reason.
If you need help booking your flight then just drop us a line or read our helpful blog post about booking flights.
If you can’t find our representative at the airport, stay there and wait, they won’t be far away. Our transfer representatives will have access to your arrival details. However, if you’re having difficulties finding them follow the instructions in your pre-arrival email. One of the team will locate you. Upon booking the trip you will also receive the team’s phone number so that you can contact them if you need them
As with any holiday, full travel insurance is a requirement for all guests booking a trip with the company.
Please also ensure that your policy covers you for ‘disruption to travel’ and ‘cover for cancellations’ as standard.
For further help please read our helpful blog post about travel insurance.
You may need to add additional cover for surfing or bodyboarding, it is essential that your insurance policy covers you for all activities during your stay. Failure to take out travel insurance breaks the contract between Bodyboard Holidays and the client.
If you are joining one of our trips and you are native to the country of its location (i.e you live in Lisbon and are joining our Portugal trip) you do not need to take out medical travel insurance. This is as long as you have your own personal healthcare plan or are covered by your country’s National Health Service. However, we kindly request that you still take out trip disruption and cancellation insurance to cover all possible eventualities.
It is difficult to obtain Indonesian Rupiah outside the country so we recommend taking a debit or credit card and using cash points once you’ve landed. You will find some ATM’s at the airport. Our accommodation has lock boxes for both passports and cash. You can exchange sterling cash with Balinese money-changers but this is less convenient than using cards. Stop two of the trip is to the island of Nusa Lembongan; there are only a few cash points here so we will make sure to visit one on the mainland before heading over.
We recommend taking at least two bank cards in case one becomes lost or damaged.
Please refer to the “What to budget for?” section.
We are a UK-based company that delivers trips all over the world welcoming travellers of all nationalities.
