FAQ's

Yes you can! You can enter or leave the country as it suits you. If you are already in the country you can either meet us at the destination on the start date or meet us at the airport when we are touching down. Vice versa, you can stay on after the coaching holiday for as long as you want. Just let us know your needs and we will be only too happy to help.

In the unfortunate event of sickness or injury, our staff are fully first aid trained qualified beach lifeguards and have developed a thorough site specific risk assessment complete with action procedures to deal with any situation. We have mobile phones to stay in touch with the local medical emergency facilities and knowledge of the location of medical centres.

We also carry with us a well-equipped first aid kit. We recommend you seek advice from your doctor regarding inoculations before setting off and to look after your body daily with plenty of hydration, shade from the sun and periods of rest. We also require everyone to carry travel insurance.

We can offer kit hire for some of our trips but this must be booked in advance. We will bring the equipment with us from the UK so plenty of notice would be appreciated. If you can, we advise that you take any of your own personal equipment for the trip.

Locks for your bag are a good idea during transit especially in countries you are unfamiliar with. We are also able to offer safes and lockboxes in the majority of our accommodation. Please read the location information for your chosen destination.

You are welcome to bring any further equipment that you would like to enjoy your trip but please be aware of your weight allowance.

In some locations our hosts will supply meals and snacks. If you have specific dietary requirements/allergies etc, it is always best to let us know beforehand so provisions can be made.

We recommend that you buy a padded bodyboard bag to safely transport your kit. Each airline has a separate carriage policy which you should always check before booking. It often works out cheaper (especially with budget airlines) to travel with one board bag that contains your bodyboarding kit, clothing, toiletries – everything.

Each country we visit requires different currency. We will let you know in our pre-trip information email about what to plan in terms of money. Some places require cash and some places you will get away with card. It really depends on the location.

Although some of our trips appear to be in far-away lands, the airports that you land at are very civilised places. When you come through the sliding doors of arrivals one of our representatives will be waiting for you. If for some reason there is no one there, (this occasionally happens when flights are delayed or arrive early) just wait with your bags outside the sliding doors to one side. We won’t be far away!

We really can’t stress enough that this isn’t a boot camp. As such, if you wake up one morning and want to lay-in and join the afternoon class instead, that is fine. It is a holiday after all and it’s all about having fun in a no-pressure environment. By the same token if there is a local volcano that you’d like to climb or a city that you would like to visit, we can usually help you organise other excursions.

The fitter that you are, the more you will get out of the trip. If you can’t get to the ocean regularly then you can improve your fitness by spending time at your local swimming pool. If they let you train with swim-fins on, even better. It really isn’t a boot camp though. If you come along and your fitness levels aren’t great, you may find that you get even more from the coaching side of things.

Many people use our trips as a means to lose weight, get fit, get a tan and feel great. Whenever you get tired, you can simply get out of the water and chill on the beach in the sun! Even if before you attend the trip you only have the time to stretch regularly, or go out for a ride on your pushbike, that will help a lot. It can be frustrating for some clients who want to surf more but by day 3 or 4, you will definitely be feeling the burn. That said, shorter sessions followed by chilling on the beach is also a great way to spend the day!

90% of our customers have had coaching in some form from us before coming on a trip. This doesn’t mean that it is essential, but it certainly doesn’t hurt as it gives you a head start with your technique and something to aim for before you go.

We can often offer you great deals on bodyboard coaching sessions if you have also booked on a holiday. It’s great to meet you before the trip and we can chat about everything from equipment to what you’ll be eating for breakfast; but this isn’t essential!

This is a question we get asked a lot. Just because Indonesia is synonymous with 8-foot grinding G-Land barrels like you see in the magazines, it doesn’t mean that we are going to take you somewhere similar if you have only been bodyboarding for 2 weeks.

By the same token, if you’ve been bodyboarding all your life, we aren’t going to ask you to surf in 1-2 ft learner waves. We treat all of our customers as individuals and we choose our destinations very carefully. This means that there is something for everyone in the majority of swell and weather conditions. Your safety and enjoyment are paramount!

This is the most common question we get asked. The age spread is always vast on our trips. From keen teens to silver surfers; take a look at our Testimonials page for recent reviews from boogers of all ages.

We do have one thing in common though, we are all keen to bodyboard which always creates a great group dynamic. Never let your age put you off bodyboarding. It’s one of the beauties of the sport, it offers something for all ages!

Please refer to the Bodyboarding Kit List blog post for a more in-depth discussion on what to bring.

We know more about the conditions, temperatures and other variables and can recommend the best kit to suit your budget. Please chat to us and we can offer trained and experienced advice before you buy.

Our bodyboard coaching trips abroad (outside of the UK) are open to people under the age of 18 but they will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This could be an older brother, sister or a friend. Our courses in the UK are open to under 18’s but you will need to have a disclaimer signed by your parent or guardian. Drop us a line and we can forward you the form.

We work with a number of travel agents that offer competitive deals on flights so we can often help. We can also let you know the companies that we usually fly with and the best tricks of the trade to find the best flights from the best websites/travel agents. If you need to arrive late or leave early then this is usually fine as well.

Again, this is a very common question that we are asked and the answer is “No worries at all”. Most of the places we visit offer a multitude of different activities available for non-bodyboarding travel partners.

We will put together a price that doesn’t include the coaching aspect of the trip and we will also let you know of any alternative options to suit your budget.

If you are under 18 we will need to chat to you on the phone and you will need to be accompanied on the trip by a parent or guardian throughout the weekend.

If you are 65 or over we’d love to chat to you about the weekend before you book, please email us to arrange a time and we’ll contact you or you can call us on +44 (0) 1637 879571.

In some cases we may be able to work around your availability. Please drop us an email with your preferred location and the dates that you can make. We often have people that will join a two week trip for only one week, or sometimes we can build a package to suit you and your friends.

We also have a great international network of instructors that we can often contact and build a package for you. Nothing is impossible, just let us know and we will try our best to make it happen.

Rob Barber and his coaching team offer daily tuition tailored to your ability. Being experienced lifeguards, some of the team have twenty year’s surfing experience and fifteen years of worldwide travel experience including British team coach, Rob Barber.

Intermediate and advanced level coaching is tailored towards the individual and will be agreed after goals have been set and an initial surf assessment has occurred.

Beginner coaching includes:

  • Oceanography class at the start of the week to understand breaks, rips and currents
  • Bodyboarding safety, beach awareness and how to catch waves
  • How to paddle out, gain speed, duck dive and wipe out safely
  • Learning moves such as cutbacks, barrel rolls and threesixty spins
  • How to get the most from your equipment while having heaps of fun

Each trip’s itinerary is flexible as we’re continually at the mercy of the swell conditions. Generally, we undertake daily Surfaris to find the best waves for shredding with the option of surfing from first light.

We will often split the group to accommodate beginners and experienced riders. This makes sure everyone gets the most from their holiday. After each session we will either chill on the beach or grab food at a local cafe or our on-site restaurant. Then we head out for an afternoon or evening session which usually concludes under an epic sunset. You don’t have to attend every session though; it’s your holiday to do as you wish.

Our professional photography and videography team will capture analysis footage of you to help improve your riding super fast. Each evening we will review the footage (when conditions have been suitable) and give feedback on how you’ve mastered the moves you’ve been taught – or not . . . All of our feedback is constructive and helps riders improve their technique. We also see some quality wipe-outs and facial expressions as you score the most fun waves the area has to offer. Our analysis sessions are fun as well as informative!

The last day is departure day and generally there will be no bodyboarding.

We guarantee an improvement in your bodyboarding skills as well as some amazing memories.

Although we love a party as much as the next booger, our bodyboard coaching trips are focussed on a relaxing and informative holiday experience. We believe hosting Stag and Hen parties would detract from the experience of our remaining customers.

If you are looking for something wet, wild and adventurous for your upcoming wedding celebrations, why not check out our sister company Newquay Activity Centre and their wide range of Stag and Hen Do activities in Cornwall.
