Sun, Waves and Huge Improvements on the NMD Bodyboard Coaching Weekend

With a great looking swell chart the Bodyboard-Holidays team were super excited about our up coming NMD July coaching weekend. The morning of day one certainly did not disappoint as we were treated to 2-3ft clean waves in Newquay Bay.

The keen beans among the group all met at dawn and headed out in to the ocean for a bonus bodyboarding session. Something that we’ve not offered before, this free session offered the crew to challenge themselves with some fast shorebreak waves. This led to some fast take off’s, cover up’s and early airtime! No better way to start the day.

For those that preferred to stay in bed and keep themselves fresh for the long days bodyboarding ahead, they joined the rest of the group a bit later on at the local beachside diner 12 Beach Road.

After a fresh coffee and pain au chocolate we split into two separate ability groups and headed to different locations for a 2 hour long bodyboarding session. Having the choice of 7 local beaches within a 5-minute drive ensures that everyone and their different skill sets and riding levels are catered for.

The sea temperatures are glorious and most of the gang opted for shorty wetsuits. The sun was beating down on us in the sea, the water was crystal clear and everyone was getting loads of waves. Is there a better way to spend a weekend?

After 2hrs of bodyboarding we were more than ready to get out of the sea, re-group with the rest of the gang and go to a near by cafe for a group lunch and analyse the photos and video from the session.

We waited for the tide to start pushing in a then headed back out into the sea to put into practise some of the pointers that we picked up from watching the footage and scrutinising the photos.

Another 2-hour bodyboarding session with slightly bigger wave conditions and the crew were nailing a range of new skills.

We all met up for a delicious evening meal at our favourite restaurant 12 Beach Road and swapped stories of the awesome day that we had all had.

Sunday began with some presentations about Surf forecasting and board design from Rob and the team. Then another day of waves was rounded off with a stack of free goodies handed out from the event sponsor NMD.

Like the sound of this? Join one of our upcoming coaching weekends and see your skills sky rocket with a bunch of like minded riders.
