How To Survive A Wipeout

September 8, 2022

A wipeout is the classic term used in bodyboarding lingo when talking about being thrown off your board by a wave. It can be whilst riding a wave or duck diving and paddling out. It’s not uncommon to be wiped out every once in a while. In fact, if you don’t get wiped out occasionally, it’s possible that you aren’t pushing yourself hard enough.

Wiping out can sometimes be a scary experience and it may feel as though you’re underwater a lot longer than you actually are. The fact of the matter is that knowing how to react in these situations will make it a lot easier to deal with these moments.

We have compiled 5 simple tips to help you when facing a wipeout…

  1. Stay calm
  2. Protect your head
  3. Smile
  4. Flatten out your body
  5. Learn from your mistakes

Follow these straightforward tips and your wipeout experiences will improve drastically in no time.  For more how to videos check out our bodyboarding youtube channel and like and subscribe to the channel.
