We were lucky enough to welcome top rider Bryan Paynter on our Sumatra Bodyboard Camp this year. It was one hell of a week filled with fantastic waves in a tropical paradise. Bodyboard Holiday’s founder, Rob Barber caught up with Bryan, on location in Sumatra for one of our guest rider profiles.

My name is Brayn Paynter.
How old are you?
I am 39 years of age.
Where are you from?
I’m originally from Durban, South Africa, but currently residing in the UK.
Which Bodyboard Holiday trips have you attended?
This is actually my first Bodyboard Holidays trip, in sunny Southern Sumatra.
What’s your favourite Bodyboard Holiday’s trip and why?
It’s got to be Sumatra! Just because there’s waves all day long.
What is your favourite wave type?
I love beachy waves – the hollower the better.
Who is your favourite bodyboarder and why?
I love Dhubb, (Dave ‘Dhubb’ Hubbard, Legendary Drop Knee World Champion Bodyboarder) for versatility and just because he always looks like he’s having fun.
Who is your favourite Bodyboard Holidays instructor and why?
It’s got to be Alex, he’s such a good guy!
What Bodyboard Holidays trip are you planning next?
I’m not sure yet, but I’d love to go with you to Costa Rica. That would be a really good one.
