Off the Beaten Track, Under Pink Moroccan Skies – Bodyboard Holiday Dream Trip

November 25, 2013

Clean waves, hot sunshine and a stoked gang of bodyboarders made for a really fun mission to Morocco this November.

Taghazout Bodyboarding
“l loved every minute of the whole week – what a blast!!!” exclaimed Jane Oxley from Cornwall when asked about her week in the sun. This November’s bodyboard coaching holiday to the legendary north African surf town of Taghazout was just the tonic the troops needed with most travelling from the frost blasted UK. There was a real international flavour to the trip with bodyboarders from as far a field as Brazil and that other well-known bodyboarding Mecca – Poland.

Bodyboarding School Morocco
With small swell and baking sunshine being the theme for the week the crew tripped up and down the coast to a number of off the beaten track spots to score fun, wedgey beach and reef breaks. Some of the sunset sessions will keep the bodyboarding fires stoked during a long cold winter. The crew would finish each day riding the clean, glassy waves under a skyline of glowing colours; yellows, reds and bright oranges which burnt over the ocean. It was these sunset sessions that left many of the riders pledging to return again and attend our March bodyboard coaching holiday to Morocco: https://bodyboard-holidays.com/destinations/africa/

Surf Maroc!
As well as riding over 8 different breaks the crew also found time to visit the crazy Moroccan Souk (indoor market), take a trip to the incredible Paradise Valley and enjoy a traditional Moroccan Bar B Q night. Stories of epic sessions were shared and the crew have now created a network of surf buddies that will prove invaluable in the future.

Learning Bodyboarding Skills

Areas that were covered on the course included; swell prediction, rips and currents, duck diving, cut backs, rolls, threesixty spins, tube riding, using your rail when bodyboarding, drop knee riding and how to move through a plateau in your progression. All abilities were catered for with three instructors administering beach, land and video analysis. Many of the riders on the course had attended our bodyboard coaching weekends (https://bodyboard-school.com/bodyboard-coaching-weekends/) so used that as a springboard to improve their skills.

Fun waves, a great crew, awesome food, amazing culture and a stack of new bodyboarding friends. Another awesome trip, thanks a lot guys!
