Favourite wave of Bodyboard-Holidays guests, experiences crane collapse which could make it even better!

Weโve been travelling toย Nusa Lembongan, Baliย for more than three decades. The flat, seaweed covered limestone reef that surrounds the island supplies amazing waves for bodyboarding. Unfortunately for ships though, these shallow areas make it easy to run aground.

The most famous break on the island is โShipwrecksโ and true to its name, there has been at least three ships wrecked on it from our knowledge alone. The most recent was a ship with a crane on it, which has become an iconic part of this island paradise line up. On December 5th 2024, after a considerable battering by the endless swell, the crane finally collapsed and fell in to the sea. It is quickly rusting away into nothing. But this sparked debate in the Bodyboard-Holidays office of whether this change to the shipwreck could in fact make the wave even better! With the opportunity for the wave to wedge off the side of the fallen crane! We will be visiting for ourย Iain Campbell bodyboard camp in October, we will report back!
