Portugal has long been the breeding ground of incredible bodyboarders. The latest prodigy could just be the best yet!
His name is Vicente Campos, he is 13 years old and he absolutely rips on a bodyboard. Born and bred on the amazing bodyboarding shores of Portugal he prides himself in spending as much time in the water as possible. Who could blame him, living on a coast with so many amazing bodyboarding waves.
That’s why we love to visit Portugal twice a year for our Bodyboard-Holidays.
Bodyboard-Holidays Director, Rob Barber caught up with him at the recent IBC World Tour event in The Maldives. “He caught my eye immediately, it just didn’t make sense that such a small human should surf with such a mature style, his ability in waves of all sizes was mind blowing”. The range of moves that he had was mind boggling. Big air roll spins, back flips, tight spins and a really knowledgeable approach to surfing heats that was far beyond his years.
Vicente progressed to the final stages of the event, even though he was competing in the under 18 division, against competitors 5 years his senior.
This boy is one to watch! Check the video, enjoy his smooth riding style and keep your eyes peeled for more from this boy in the future. It’s going to be amazing to watch his progress.
