Ireland Bodyboard Coaching Holiday

Bundoran Serves Up Dream Conditions for Our Ireland Bodyboard Coaching Trip

We chose October for our Ireland bodyboard-coaching holiday due to the consistency of the waves, lack of crowds and summer time water temperatures… the Emerald certainly came up trumps.

Perfect Irish Bodyboarding Waves

After a week of cruising the Irish countryside, driving down farmers tracks to find yet another awesome set up, with no one in the water and some crazy fun conditions the crew were nearly burned out! Great waves are one thing but little to no crowds really pushes the wave count through the roof. Our Irish guides have bodyboarded the area for a combined 40 years plus.  So we were in the right spot everyday and the crew on the trip certainly maxed out their wave quota.

Tullan Strand, Easkey, Bundoran Peak and the Secret Spots… shhh!

We were fortunate to score all of the key spots in the area. From the awesome fun wedges of Tullan Strand (which supplied a brilliant training ground for us all) to the flawless barrels of the secret spots, the crew really got their fill. The waves per person ratio went through the roof as we hit spot after spot with only a couple of friendly locals, the odd seal, or just ourselves for company.

The less said about the secret spots the better but it’s fair to say we scored big; Mark Tomsett (41) from Cambridge summed it up perfectly when he said “That day at the secret spot was one of the best days I’ve ever had on a sponge.  Great waves and a positive vibe in the water. With everyone cheering each other into those pits. It’s going to be hard to top with out another trip to Eire!”

On the way to the most secret of secret spots!

Irish Barrels, Castles and Guinness.

Our multi national crew included riders from Ireland, England, Germany and beyond all sharing the magic of the Emerald experience. One day we were leaping through waterfalls on the way to secret spots, the next we were listening to some ‘fiddly-diddly’ in front of an open fire with a pint of Guinness in hand. We climbed castles and trecked through wild countryside. All in all, an awesome trip. Can’t wait to head back again in October 2014.

The best surf check spot in history!

Guinness in Ireland has a taste of its own… especially when you’ve been getting barreled all day.

Slab-tastic! Stuart Mcnamara exits his first ever barrel.

The Bundoran light show was second to none.

We will be heading back to Bundoran next October. In the mean time, check out our trips to Morocco, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Indo!
