Why join the Ladies bodyboard weekend?

Boost your confidence and improve your bodyboarding with other like-minded stoke-loving women! Comparatively easier than surfing, bodyboarding allows you to get up close and personal with the ocean whilst results (and smiles!) appear much faster! Due to your low centre of gravity, the sense of speed and excitement is increased which means you can have way more fun with less effort! These weekends are also an opportunity to meet a bunch of women just like yourself in a super-chilled, no-pressure environment.

What to expect?

It’s our promise to maximise the bodyboarding fun throughout the weekend by making sure that you are in the right place for the best waves for your ability. We create separate ability groups which will see you developing your skills with likeminded riders of a similar ability level. On Saturday evening we will enjoy a group meal at one of our favourite local restaurants, the weekends are very social, we get results, but it certainly isn’t a boot camp.

Who is this trip for?

If you’ve never tried bodyboarding before and want to learn a new sport in a safe environment, this weekend provides the perfect introduction. Maybe you surf already but want to experience a new and different way of riding waves? Whether you’re a complete beginner or an advanced rider, our awesome team of female coaches can help you nail each manoeuvre with personalised tuition and feedback.

LADIES BODYBOARD WEEKEND

£219 per person

Can’t make it for a whole week, why not join us for a day!

Saturday only, £139 per person

PRE-WEEKEND

  • Pre-weekend support with your female instructor team via email or telephone

  • Bespoke Bodyboard-Holiday preparation fitness video.
  • Bespoke Bodyboard-Holiday preparation Yoga video geared toward bodyboarding flexibility and cramp reduction.
  • Optional bonus pre-weekend, Friday afternoon session
  • Equipment advice to make sure you have the correct board for the conditions ahead

POST-WEEKEND

  • Post weekend you will receive all your photos and videos from your sessions
  • Post weekend fitness routine to maintain and improve specific bodyboarding movements
  • Post weekend yoga stretches to maintain and improve specific bodyboarding flexibility, reduce aches and focus on key areas moving forward
  • Post weekend support with your instructor team via email or telephone

EQUIPMENT STORE

  • Free use of a varied selection of hand-picked bodyboards that include a broad size range, materials, tail shapes, contours, and channel systems. These will be introduced to some sessions to help expand your knowledge of equipment.
  • A variety of fins to try throughout the week to establish if you can benefit from a different shape, style, or brand.

COACHING

  • Expert coaching from Rob Barber’s and Women + Waves team of qualified, insured and in-house trained instructors
  • Photo & video analysis sessions with our bodyboard photography trained team of expert lensmen
  • Structured progression plan to see your riding move through the four levels of bodyboard riding.
  • Encouragement and feedback on every ride, paddle out and wipe-out!
  • Good times with like-minded bodyboarders.
  • Discounts on activities at Newquay Activity Centre, the Rip Curl shop and bars/cafes/eateries in Newquay.

SATURDAY

  • Saturday – 3-4 hour bodyboard coaching session covering all aspects of riding you wish to focus on
  • Meet and greet followed by an introduction to your ability group with aims for the weekend discussed and agreed in relation to your Knowledge Tree journey
  • Conditions explained and surfari to the best beach on the coast (sustainable car share with the instructor team)
  • Pre-session bodyboard-specific warm up
  • Professional photo and video package of your bodyboarding from land and in-water using GoPro’s (Includes a copy to take home with you at the end of the weekend)
  • Post-bodyboard session video and photo analysis using land and water footage
  • Advice about the kit that you’re using and the opportunity to use boards, fins or wetsuits from our vast range, if we feel they will benefit your performance
  • Post-bodyboarding session meal which will include bodyboard theory chats and socialising. (Meal cost not included)

SUNDAY

  • Sunday – 1 x two-hour bodyboard coaching session to develop all the new skills you learned on Saturday.
  • Post bodyboard session video and photo analysis using land and water footage
  • Discussion on your learning path and where to go from here with your riding

PHOTO AND VIDEO ANALYSIS

  • Land and in water photo and video package to take home with you
  • Daily analysis sessions of the footage to see you improve fast
  • New split screen analysis to break down your riding step by step

EVENING ACTIVITIES

The evenings are for kicking back, enjoying a group meal with the crew on the weekend, if you’ve got the energy you could grab a drink at the Fistral Beach Bar and watch the sun go down. Newquay is a great place for a walk through town in the evening and there are lots of great spots to eat, drink and people watch. But to be honest, most people that join our coaching weekend are ready to chill and grab an early night after a long day in the water.
