Cornwall Bodyboarding Camp | What they said…

Last June we had our most successful Cornwall Bodyboarding Camp to date; 24 keen bodyboarders enjoyed pumping waves, endless sunshine, bluebird skies, luxury camping, sunset BBQs and all round good times.

We caught up with some of the boogers and instructors from that coaching weekend to find out what made last year’s camp so memorable. We also pinned down a number of high profile UK riders to find out what they regard as the best thing about bodyboarding in Cornwall, in June.

“Sun, minimal crowds and a cheeky barrel or two. …We had a full cottage for the four of us which was great, swimming in the pool with the dog in the morning was a good way to brush off the beers from the night before, then onto score some more waves.” Joe Cameron-Wallace, bodyboarder on last year’s trip

“June is one of my favourite times of the year to be at home in Cornwall. Long days coupled with often solid swells, a surf window from 4.30am to 10pm, 20 degree land and sea temps so a 3/2mm or less.”  Alex Allen, UK bodyboarder

“The waves were great on the camp and the atmosphere was laid back and friendly and June’s a good month before the mad rush starts.

I realised I was doing a lot wrong, and the lessons really helped my basics and inspired me to improve my technique. Will definitely book another one and would recommend to others!” Antony Laycock, bodyboarder on last year’s trip

“Long days means lots of surfing and hanging out at the beach, warm waters, BBQs and sunsets after the surf” Brooke Mason, UK bodyboarder

“It’s gotta be the warmer water and sunshine” Aaron Dinham, UK bodyboarder

“So much! Firstly being taken to the best local spots that provide super fun and not crowded waves. Also you will be kept 100% safe as all the coaches are trained beach lifeguards and are really experienced.  The weather is great, so expect some sweet sunsets with a cider and new friends. Also the wildlife is amazing, seals & dolphins often stop by the line up to say hi.

But the most memorable bit of the coaching weekends is definitely the people you meet. The weekends attract a bunch of like minded, friendly people who all want to have fun in the water and are really supportive and fun.” Becky Tolman, bodyboarder on last year’s trip
